The team at AS2 selected Santa Shoebox Project as our charity for giving back to the community this year. Each team member decided on the age and gender of the child, Santa Shoebox then allocated a child to the person. We collected all the boxes at our office and then delivered it to the drop off point at the beginning of November.
What is the Santa Shoebox Project?
The Santa Shoebox Project originated in Cape Town in 2006 with a humble 180 shoeboxes. In 14 years, it has grown in leaps and bounds, with the number of Santa Shoeboxes donated reaching a total of 958 835 children. The shoeboxes are distributed to more than 1000 recipient facilities each year, through more than 60 satellites around South Africa and Namibia.

What is inside?
When a donor pledges a Santa Shoebox, they promise a child the gift of self-worth and fulfilled potential. These are so much more than “just” a shoebox; each donor fills a decorated shoebox with 8 required items –
- Toothbrush.
- Toothpaste.
- Facecloth.
- Soap.
- Toy.
- Outfit of clothing.
- School supplies.
- Sweets.
